With its varied landscape, the Upper Middle Rhine Valley is an Eldorado for everyone who likes to be outdoors.

Long-distance trails and mountain bike routes inspire cyclists of many different kinds. Long hiking paths wind their way through the Middle Rhine Valley to link German towns or lead nature enthusiasts through fascinating nature reserves and a great variety of landscapes.

From Easter until the end of October, excursion boats ply the river regularly, taking amazed visitors past steep cliffs, narrow gorges, and defiant castles. Car and passenger ferries make it easy to go from one side of the Rhine to the other, and bridges, as the ones between Mainz and Coblence, become unnecessary.

If you still need a reason for visiting this World Heritage Site, you will perhaps find it in one of the numerous special events that take place there. Whether you like the Rhine or wine, knights or Romanticism – it’s all waiting for you in the Upper Middle Rhine Valley.
