The project builds on the positive experiences of work camps and volunteering projects in the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley over the past ten years. The target group is (international) students and, where applicable, graduates of universities in the Upper Middle Rhine Valley area (Bingen, Geisenheim, Wiesbaden, Koblenz) in relevant bachelor's or master's programs, as well as students from other universities worldwide with a strong connection to the fields of UNESCO World Heritage, cultural landscapes, monument preservation, architectural culture, landscape development and nature conservation.

The following activities will take place during the two-week spring school:

  • Theoretical insights into the preservation of UNESCO World Heritage sites in seminar units ("Lecture Series")
  • Practical assignments to learn techniques for the preservation of World Heritage sites with a focus on cultural landscapes ("Hands-On Activities")
  • Excursions and visits to the Upper Middle Rhine Valley World Heritage Site
  • Leisure activities and exchange

The theoretical content is provided by specialist authorities and institutions from the Upper Middle Rhine Valley World Heritage Site, and ideally by teaching staff from the neighboring university. Practical work assignments are conducted by the association and partner organizations. Participants receive a certificate. The extent to which university credit points will be awarded must be clarified with the respective universities.
